Part of the family of Joseph Nicholas Pace of Milo, Missouri

Date of picture: 1910  Place: near Milo, Vernon County, MO, probably on the farm of Joseph Carol Pace, shown in the picture.

If it is hard to follow the row-by-row identification provided, scroll to the bottom of this page for a scan of a photocopy with lines indicating the persons.

Front row seated: Joseph Nicholas Pace, J.N.'s son Joseph Carol Pace holding his son Tom Pace on his lap, Joseph Carol's wife Matty (Garrett) holding son Raymond on her lap, Danial Anthony Rapp, husband of Ella Mae Pace, holding their son Orville Rapp

Next row, standing: (Mary?) Ann Eliza (Jackson) Pace , wife of Joseph Nicholas Pace; Mary Eliza Rapp (Driver), daughter of Anthony and Ella Mae (Pace) Rapp; Jewell Ivan Pace (Driver, Murphy), daughter of Joseph Caroll and Matty (Garrett) Pace, Lela Frances Pace, daughter of Joseph Caroll and Matty (she is between them), Leota Merrell Rapp, daughter of Anthony and Ella Rapp; Sadie Rapp (Sheeks, Spillman) daughter of Anthony and Ella.

Back row -- Henry Pace, brother of Joseph Nicholas; Henry's wife Eunice; Tom Pace, brother of Joseph Nicholas, Adeline Pace, probably wife of Tom Pace or possibly wife of Dick Pace, who was killed as a young adult in a run-away team accident; Ella Mae (Pace) Rapp, holding daughter Dollie Rapp (Howell). Ella was daughter of J.N. Pace and husband of Daniel Anthony Rapp,

Identification provided by Sadie Rapp (Sheeks, Spillman), the chubby little girl third from right, from memory in her old age.  NOTE: Records show that J.N. Pace did not have brothers Henry and Tom as identified in red above. Perhaps they were (Mary) Ann Eliza Jackson's brothers. (Her name was Mary Ann according to family lore but all official records show Ann Eliza; thus the Mary in parenthesis.)

Families of J.N. Pace's other two living children are not shown: Margaret Frances Pace Lasiter, who moved to Oregon; George Pace (my grandfather), who was section foreman on the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Granby, MO, at that time.

The picture below will help to identify the individuals. as identified by Sadie Rapp (Sheeks, Spillman) in old age.  Remember that the identification of the two brothers of JN Pace (Henry and Tom) have been proven to be erroneous. They are more likely Henry and Tom Jackson, brothers of (Mary) Ann Eliza (Jackson) Pace.
