A SKETCH AND HISTORY OF
OUR COLONIAL ANCESTORS
FROM 1619 TO 1799
By Bruce A. Howard, Professional Genealogist
Dear Pace Cousins:
This is the book so many of you have been waiting for, for almost 20 years. It is now a reality. Of course it starts from the very beginning of our ancestral existence on this continent, in Virginia, and continues into the 19th century as later generations spread into the Carolinas and then further west.
The purpose of this book is quite simple. It has been my purpose over all these many years to either confirm or correct the many mistakes, guesses, and wrong assumptions published by so many others in the past about Our Colonial Ancestors.
I have conducted the research for this book myself; traveling thousands of miles over several years, working in courthouses, archives and libraries anywhere the trail led me.
There are going to be some very big surprises for most of you; while for some of you my research conclusions will confirm your suspicions that you have carried for many years but could never find the right answer to solve the mystery. No doubt a few of you will be upset because the many things you have been led to believe were correct are now proven to be incorrect. Such things happen in life.
The book that I now offer to you is in the standard book format known as 8vo., or 6 x 9 in size, 520 pp., printed on acid free 60 pound text weight paper with a shelf life of eighty plus years; hard bound in quality cloth and gold foil stamped on the spine. There will be numerous photos and original antique graphics throughout the text and appendix. I have also included a glossary of 17th and 18th century terms and calendar dates, followed by an index. I have required the printer to take extreme measures to produce a high quality book that all of you can be proud of and pass down from generation to generation.
Our Colonial Ancestors will cover each of the following families: Richard & Isabella Pace, George & Sarah Pace, John Pace of Middlesex and his children, Caesar and Elizabeth Walpole and their two children; Richard & Mary Pace and each of their sons (Richard, George, James, Thomas, and John) and each of their families, if any. I also solve the mystery of the mystical Frederick Pace. Many mistakes of the past will be set straight by record evidence.
The following names appear in the Index: Aldridge, Alford, Anderson, Baker, Baldwin, Bishop, Blackfly, Boisseau, Bonner, Booten, Bray, BAriggs, Briscoe, Brown, Burge, Cade, Cain, Callier, Cosby, Edwards, Epes, Epps, Eppes, Ethridge, Evens, Fain, Falkenberry, Garrott, Grissom, Haggard, Hails, Hobbs, Howell, Horan, Hunt, Irvine, Jackson, Jarvis, Johnson, Jones, Kent, Knight, Leonard, Loving, Lowe, Macocke, Maycock, Menefie, McCullam, McDonald, McKean, Mountcastle, Nance, Perry, Phillips, Pigg, Poythres, Rainwater, Rose, Rosser, Russell, Saunders, Smith, Smyth, Snowe, Stennett, Strickland, Stringer, Tennison, Thompson, Thornton, Tyler, Underwood, Walker, Wall, Wallace, Walpole, Whitehead, Whittmore, Woodlief, Wodruff.
The Pace portion of the index is, of course, too lengthy to mention.
The Index is by no means complete. There are many names that appear throughout the text that are not connected to the Pace family but played a part in their lives in some way.
The very large appendix will contain transcripts of the actual records in full, with full explanations on several points of controversy. There will be a large amount of material that no one has ever ;uncovered before that I believe everyone will find quite interesting as well as informative.
I truly hope that everyone will enjoy this book as much as I have enjoyed doing it, and will learn a great deal from it.
Only one thousand copies of this book will be printed and offered and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Two styles of hard binding will be offered, as follows:
Cloth bound - $62.50 per copy
Morocco Leather - $78.00 per copy
(Postage included in price)
