Charlie Marvin Oxford was born in Muskogee, Muskogee County, Oklahoma September 21, 1888. Charlie died in 1973 in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas, at the age of 84.

Charlie's parents were John Collins Oxford and Susan A. Cate. Susan died when Charlie was a year old and John sent him to his sister's home to be raised, ( Elizabeth C. Oxford) Charlie was raised by his Aunt Lizzie Martin in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Charlie is found living with his Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle Joe Martin on the 1900 Hopkins County, Texas Census Record.

Charlie married Mattie A. Dixon December 13, 1908. Mattie was born 6 May 1895, in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas. Mattie was the daughter of James Dixon and Unknown Unknown. Mattie died 10 May 1954 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Charlie and Mattie had six children.

Charlie was a Barber by profession he owned his own shop for years, he then decided he wanted to be a farmer so he went into farming in his later years.
