Elizabeth SAXBY (1834-1863)

Elizabeth SAXBY,1 daughter of Robert SAXBY (bef1807-1886) and Mary Ann REEVES (1807?-1886), was born on 25 March 1834 in Branston Fen, Lincolnshire.1,2,3,4

she migrated from Plymouth, Devonshire to Sydney, NSW arriving on 31 May 1841. She travelled to Australia on the "Moffatt" with her parents during which the vessel is said to have "touched at no port". They departed from Plymouth on 12 February 1841.1 She married Robert John WILKES on 13 December 1851 in the Hunter River District in NSW.1

Robert and Elizabeth had 8 children :

- Robert John WILKES (b.1854 Stroud NSW; d.1935 Grafton NSW)

- William H WILKES (b. 12 Dec 1854 Clarence Town NSW)

- Mary A WILKES (b.1856 Aust Ag Co, Dungog NSW)

- Elizabeth Harriett WILKES (b. 10 Oct 1858 Dungog NSW; d. 20 Jun 1922; bur. Callaghan's Creek NSW Private Property)

- Edward Alf Alexander WILKES (b.1859 Dungog NSW; d. 4 Aug 1843; bur. Dungog NSW Cemetery)

- Martha Lucy WILKES (b.1861 Dungog NSW; d. 27 Jul 1938; bur. Melbury Cemetery at Salisbury NSW)

- Agnes Rebecca S WILKES (b. 16 Jul1863 Dungog NSW; d. 23 Dec 1928; bur. Krambach NSW).5,6,7

Elizabeth died (aged 29) on 16 July 1863 at "Ivy Cottage" in Bandon Grove, NSW.2,8
