Leslie James COLLINS (1916-1995)

Leslie James COLLINS, son of Henry d'Arcy COLLINS (1887-1957) and Florist Amelia GEGG (1886-1953), was born on 31 January 1916 at Union St in Goulburn, NSW.^1,2,3,4,5,6 In 1928 (estimated) he resided at "The Briars" in Bong Bong, NSW. as a child with his parents.⁷ In January 1941 he was a chef in Katoomba, NSW.² On 23 January 1941 he resided at "The Cecil", Katoomba St in Katoomba.² He married Marie Madge JONES when he was 24 and she was 29 on 23 January 1941 at Emmanuel Church in Lawson, NSW.^2,8

in 1950 (approx.) they lived at 82 Griffith St in Oak Flats, NSW. They built the home themselves probably with the help of Les' brother Norman who was a builder.⁹ In 1955 (approx.) he was a water carrier in the Shellharbour District of NSW.¹⁰

Les and Marie didn't have any children.¹¹

Leslie married Eileen Myrtle MOLLOY on 14 October 1967 at the Methodist Church, cnr David Edgeworth Drive and Ayre St in Waitara, NSW. The wedding started at 3.30pm. The reception was held at the Baptist Church Hall, cnr Pacific Hwy and Pretoria Pde, Hornsby NSW.^12,13,14

in October 1967 they lived at 82 Griffith St in Oak Flats. This was the home Les had lived in for many years.

Leslie and Eileen didn't have any children.¹⁵

On 15 January 1991 Leslie was diagnosed with the medical condition stroke. He was at his doctor's surgery when it happened.¹⁶

he died (aged 79) on 6 July 1995 at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital in Nowra, NSW. The cause was (I) Myocardial Infarction for hours; Arteriosclerosis years; Partial Obstruction for 3 hours and (II) Obstruction airways disease years; Cerebrovascular accident for 2 years.^17,18 He was buried on 10 July 1995 in Albion Park General Cemetery, Croome Rd in Albion Park, NSW.¹⁹
