Agnes WRIGHT (1831?-1871)

Agnes WRIGHT,1 daughter of David WRIGHT ( -bef1854) and Agnes COLQUHOUN ( -bef1854), was born in 1831 (calculated) in Paisley, Renfrewshire in Scotland. (possibly).2 Her relationship to Ellen is Paternal Great ( x2 ) Grandmother. Before July 1852 Agnes resided at 54 Love St in Paisley.3

Agnes married Robert ANDERSON on 22 July 1852 at Middle Parish Church in Paisley.2,3

It is probable that before 1854 they lived in Paisley.4

she migrated from Liverpool (Merseyside), Lancashire to Sydney, NSW arriving on 10 July 1854. She travelled with her husband Robert and first born son Alexander. They travelled on the "Sabrina" which departed 28 March 1854. She came as a Bounty Immigrant.5,6 In 1854 she was a follower of the Church of Scotland faith .5 In 1854 she was described as able to read and write .7

she died (aged 40) on 4 August 1871 at Denison St (Kingston Parish) in Newtown, NSW. The cause was Inflamation of the Lungs (6 weeks duration). Her religion was noted as Presbyterian and she was recorded as having been in NSW for 17 years.5,8,9,10

On 5 August 1871 a Funeral Notice for Agnes was placed in the Sydney Morning Herald (Saturday) which read as follows : The friends of Mr R Anderson are invited to attend the Funeral of his late beloved wife, Agnes; to move from his residence, Denison-street, Kingston, this (Saturday) afternoon, at 3 o'clock. (Signed) C Kinsela and Sons, Undertakers (+ address).5

On 5 August 1871 a Funeral Notice for Agnes was placed in the Sydney Morning Herald (Saturday) which read as follows : The Officers and Brethren of the Sons of Perseverance Lodge Friendly Society are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral of the late wife of Brother Robert Anderson, Kingston, Newtown, tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon; to move from the Mortuary to the Necropolis (Signed) H J Triggs NG [It is not known if many people went to attend the funeral on the wrong day].5

in 1871 she and Robert ANDERSON lived at Denison St (Kingston Parish) in Newtown. They were there at the time of Agnes' death.11 She was buried on 5 August 1871 in the general cemetery in Haslams Creek, NSW.5,12,13
