Elspeth RICHARDSON (1857-1881)

Elspeth RICHARDSON1 (known as 'Elsie'), daughter of John RICHARDSON ( - ) and Mary Eugenie LIVINGSTONE ( - ), was born between January 1857 and March 1857 in Wigton, Cumberland.2,3,4 Her relationship to Ellen is Paternal Great (x1) Grandmother. Elsie resided at Burns Hill in Sebergham, Cumbria.5

she migrated from England to Sydney, NSW arriving in 1865 (calculated).6 She was a domestic servant .7 On 28 September 1876 she resided in Sydney. She was living there at the time of her marriage.7 She married Donald Edward ANDERSON on 28 September 1876 at Denison St (Kingston Parish) in Newtown, NSW. The witnesses were Donald ANDERSON and Elspeth's sister Mary Ann RICHARDSON. Donald was recorded as being a bachelor and Elspeth was recorded as a spinster. They were married by the Presbyterian minister John Auld.8,9

before April 1881 they lived at Dick and Abercrombie Sts in Sydney.10

she died (aged 24) on 17 April 1881 at 66 Abercrombie St in Sydney. The cause was Phthisis Pul. Her medical attendant was Dr. Alston.11,12,13 On 18 April 1881 a Funeral Notice for her was placed in the Sydney Morning Herald (Tuesday) which read as follows : The friends of Mr Donald Anderson, Stonemason, are respectfully invited to the funeral of his late beloved wife and his beloved son Donald to leave from his residence Dick and Abercrombie Streets this Tuesday at 2 o'clock for the Necropolis. Signed J and G Shying Co, Undertakers, 147 George St South.14 On 18 April 1881 a Funeral Notice for her was placed in the Sydney Morning Herald (Tuesday) which read as follows : The friends of Mr John Richardson of Elizabeth St Strawberry Hills, are respectfully invited to the funeral of his eldest beloved daughter, Elspeth Anderson to move from her late residence Dick and Abercrombie Streets this Tuesday at 2 o'clock for the Necropolis. Signed J and G Shying Co, Undertakers, 147 George St South.14 She was buried on 18 April 1881 in Section 4A/3404 of the Presbyterian Section of Rookwood cemetery in Lidcombe, NSW.3,15
