Donald Edward ANDERSON (1855-1884)

Donald Edward ANDERSON,1 son of Robert ANDERSON (1832-1899) and Agnes WRIGHT (1831?-1871), was born in 1855 in Redfern, NSW.2,3,4,5 His relationship to Ellen is Paternal Great (x1) Grandfather. Donald was a stonemason .6,7 On 28 September 1876 he resided at Denison St (Kingston Parish) in Newtown, NSW. He was living there at the time of his marriage.6 He married Elspeth RICHARDSON on 28 September 1876 at Denison St (Kingston Parish) in Newtown. The witnesses were Donald ANDERSON and Elspeth's sister Mary Ann RICHARDSON. Donald was recorded as being a bachelor and Elspeth was recorded as a spinster. They were married by the Presbyterian minister John Auld.7,8

before April 1881 they lived at Dick and Abercrombie Sts in Sydney, NSW.9

he died (aged 29) on 15 September 1884 at Redfern St in Redfern. The cause was Phthisis (tuberculosis). He had suffered from the TB for two years.5,10 On 17 September 1884 a Funeral Notice for him was placed in the Sydney Morning Herald (Wednesday) which read as follows : The friends of Mr Robert Anderson are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral of his beloved son, Donald, stonemason, to move from the residence of his father-in-law Mr John Richardson, no 12 Redfern St West this (Wednesday) afternoon at 2 o'clock for the Necropolis. Signed J and G Shying Co, Undertakers, 147 George St South

Similar notices were placed in the Sydney Morning Herald on the same day by Messrs. Alexander, Robert and David Anderson for their brother; Mr John Anderson for his son-in-law; Mr Alfred Baldwin for his brother-in-law and Mr Charles Freshwater for his brother-in-law.1 He was buried on 17 September 1884 in Section 4A/3404 of the Presbyterian Section of Rookwood cemetery in Lidcombe, NSW.5

 

Elspeth RICHARDSON11 (known as 'Elsie') was the daughter of John RICHARDSON ( - ) and Mary Eugenie LIVINGSTONE ( - ). She and Donald Edward ANDERSON had the following children:
