Annie Beatrice ROBERTS (1886-1957)

Annie Beatrice ROBERTS,1,2 daughter of Alexander ROBERTS ( - ) and Mary Jane ROBERTS** ( - ), was born in 1886 in Windellama, NSW.1,3 She was a butcher's assistant . She worked alongside her husband, James in their butcher shop for a good deal of their married life.2 She married James Edward BOWLAND in 1907 at the BDM District in Ashfield, NSW.2

James and Annie had 5 children :

- Arthur Roy BOWLAND, butcher

- Albert James BOWLAND, butcher

- Eileen BOWLAND (b.1919), the last whose youngest child was Helen

The names and birth order of the other two children is not known.2

Annie died (aged 71) in 1957 in Enfield, NSW.2

 

James Edward BOWLAND4 was the son of George BOLAND (1848-1923) and Janet Ellen GEGG (Snr) (1852-1926).

 

They raised their granddaughter, Helen Sutton from when she was aged 1. She says she "has very clear memories of them both but it was her grandfather James (Jim) who was the storyteller and her dearest companion in those years. He was very fond of a yarn and had many about his life in Braidwood, NSW, his parents and his siblings".5
