John HAISELL (1810-1874)

John HAISELL1,2 was born on 11 December 1810 in Lydd, Kent.1,2,3 He was baptised on 17 February 1811 in Lydd.3,4 He married Sarah TICKNER on 22 October 1833 in East Guldeford, Sussex. John and Sarah were married by Banns.1,2,3

he migrated from England to Sydney, NSW arriving on 31 August 1838. He travelled to Australia with his wife Sarah. They departed 14 Jun 1838.5 John's parents were William HAISELL (shepherd) and Hannah WOOD. He had at least one brother and three sisters. John is the only one known to have emigrated to Australia.3,4,6 John was a farmer in Menangle, NSW. He was the first farmer there after having been a labourer on the Macarthur estate.7

he died (aged 63) on 6 August 1874 in Gundagai, NSW.1,2,3 He was buried in 1874 in Old Section of the general cemetery in North Gundagai, NSW.3,8,9

 

Sarah TICKNER1,2 was the daughter of Edward TICKNER (1789-1864) and Sarah TOWNER (1784-1860).
