Joseph HOLDSTOCK (1797-1876)

Joseph HOLDSTOCK1 was born on 27 August 1797 in Wittersham, Kent.1 He married Elizabeth Ann TICKNER on 9 April 1818 in Winchelsea, Sussex. The witnesses were her sister Elizabeth Ann and Elizabeth's husband Wat(t)erman CHATTERTON.1 In 1872 he resided in Gedling, Nottinghamshire. This was at the time of his marriage.1 Joseph's parents were Thomas HOLDSTOCK and Mary WALLIS.1

Joseph and Elizabeth had 10 children :

- Joseph HOLDSTOCK (b. 3 Jul 1819, d. 2 May 1866 Tenterden, Kent). On 2 May 1866 he married Carline Reynolds (b.1822; d. 28 Apr 1893 Tenterden, Kent)

- Elizabeth HOLDSTOCK (b. 11 Mar 1821 d. 31 Aug 1828)

- Samuel HOLDSTOCK (b. 7 Jun 1823)

- Eliza HOLDSTOCK (b. 29 Jan 1826)

- Sophia HOLDSTOCK (b. 10 Dec 1827)

- James HOLDSTOCK (b. 7 Feb 1830, d. 7 May 1836)

- Thomas HOLDSTOCK (b. 1 May 1831, d. 17 Mar 1879)

- George HOLDSTOCK (b. 5 May 1833)

- Jane HOLDSTOCK (b. 7 Dec 1834)

- Emily HOLDSTOCK (b. 5 Nov 1837).1,2

Joseph died (aged 78) in March 1876 in Kent, England.1


Elizabeth Ann TICKNER3 was the daughter of Thomas TICKNER (bef1758-1816) and Susannah BAILEY (1763-1816).
