John COMMINS (1840-1933)

John COMMINS1 [311], son of Michael COMMINS (1806-1891) [278] and Mary CONROY (1809-1891) [279], was born in 1840 in Clare, Ireland.1

he migrated from Burren, Clare to Sydney, NSW arriving on 28 June 1850. He travelled to Australia on the ship "Lloyds" which is estimated to have left about February 1850. The family settled in the Michelago district.2,3 The shipping documents indicate his place of origin as Cross Gleg, Co. Tyrone Ireland.4 John married Mary REDDEN [358] in 1873 in Michelago, NSW.1,3

he died (aged 93) on 28 June 1933 in Michelago.1,5 He was buried in June 1933 in the Catholic section of the general cemetery in Michelago.5


COMMINS and CUMMINS are different spellings of the family name.


Mary REDDEN1 [358] was the daughter of Patrick REDDEN (1824?-1888) [515] and Ellen ROACH (1826?- ) [516]. She and John COMMINS had the following children:
