Catherine COMMINS (1830?-1912)

Catherine COMMINS,1 daughter of Michael COMMINS (1806-1891) and Mary CONROY (1809-1891), was born in 1830 (approx.) in Clare, Ireland.1

she migrated from Burren, Clare to Sydney, NSW arriving on 28 June 1850. She travelled to Australia with her parents on the ship "Lloyds" which is estimated to have left about February 1850. They settled in the Michelago district.2,3 The shipping documents indicate her place of origin as Cross Gleg, Co. Tyrone Ireland.4 In 1855 (approx.) Catherine was a servant at the property of Dr Murray in Woden, NSW (now ACT).3 She married James LAWLER on 17 February 1855 at St Gregory's Catholic Church in Queanbeyan, NSW.5,6

in 1861 they lived at "Rock Forest" in Burra, NSW.3

she died (aged 82) on 26 May 1912 at "Rock Forest" in Burra.1 She was buried in 1912 in Grave 18 of the General Cemetery in Michelago, NSW.7

 

COMMINS and CUMMINS are different spellings of the family name.
