Peter TICKNER,1 son of Henry TICKNER (bef1821-1895) and Martha RIDEOUT (1828-1875), was born on 11 June 1855 at "Camberfield" in Razorback, NSW.1,2,3 He was christened on 18 July 1855 at St John's Anglican church in Camden, NSW.1,4 On 5 July 1873 he resided in Cullala, NSW. He made a conditional purchase of 50 acres of land. On 20 January 1876 he was charged with non-residence on the property. James GEGG and Charles ROBERTS, both notable figures in the area, testified on his behalf. The newspaper report on the matter doesn't give the result of the prosecution.

He has been recorded as also living at Forest Rd Sutherland NSW and The Oaks NSW.5,6

Peter married Mary SMITH on 20 August 1879 at St John's Anglican church in Camden.1,2 In 1897 he was a farmer and fettler in Cootamundra, NSW.6

Peter and Mary had 9 children :

- Florence Emily TICKNER (Birth record not found). She married James TUCKWELL on 16 Aug 1905 (Reg No. 6719 / 1905). They had eleven children

- William Henry TICKNER (b. 1884 Yass, NSW, d. 1884 Murrumburrah, NSW)

- Amy A TICKNER (b. 1888 Cootamundra, NSW Reg No 23144 / 1888)

- Annie A TICKNER (b. 1891 Cootamundra, NSW, m. Godfrey M HALL)

Peter died (aged 73) on 8 January 1929 at his residence in The Oaks, NSW.10,11,12 He was buried on 17 January 1929 in the Uniting Church graveyard in Glenmore, NSW.6,13,14

1. Mary Alice4 Tickner (Peter3, Henry2, Edward1) was born 1899 in Cootamundra NSW, and died 1936 in Granville NSW. She married Walter James Smith 1924 in Camden, son of James Smith and Annie Reed. He was born July 10, 1900 in Grong Grong, and died May 08, 1973 in 227 Sunnyholt Road Blacktown NSW.

Notes for Walter James Smith:

Walter worked at one stage alongside his brother John at the Yarranderie Silver Mine hauling the ore by horse and dray from the mine to the railway. He is on the Honour Board outside the Town Hall, Camden.
