Joseph FLINT (1845-1890)

Joseph FLINT1 was born on 23 January 1845 in St Neats, Huntingdonshire.2,3 Joseph's parents were Thomas FLINT (c.1808 - 1865) and Elizabeth DARBY (b. c.1819). They were married in 1842 in Eaton, Bedfordshire, England.2,3

Joseph migrated from Plymouth, Devonshire to Port Jackson Sydney, NSW arriving on 13 August 1849. He travelled on the "Duke of Roxburgh" a 498 Ton Barque which departed 30 April 1849. The ship's master was Master Collard. He arrived with his parents.2 He was a tenant farmer in Green Hills, NSW. He was employed at Camden Park Estate.3 He married Martha TICKNER on 11 March 1868 at St John's Church in Camden, NSW.1,2,3

from 1873 they lived in Goulburn, NSW.4

Joseph and Martha had 9 children :

- Alice Elizabeth FLINT (b.18 Apr 1871 Bong Bong, d. 19 Oct 1944 Concord)

- Frank Joseph FLINT (b. 23 May 1875 Berrima, d. 27 Jul 1913 Goulburn BDM)

- Alick John FLINT (b. 5 Jul 1877 Goulburn, d. 27 Jul 1878 Goulburn)

- Gertrude May FLINT (b. 24 May 1879 Goulburn, d. 2 Apr 1942 Camden)

- Percy Edwin FLINT (b. 20 Jul 1881 Goulburn, d. 14 Nov 1934)

- Emily Beatrice FLINT (19 Aug 1883 Goulburn, d. 5 Mar 1969 Campsie BDM)

- Bernice Irene FLINT (16 Feb 1888 Goulburn, d. 28 Jun 1967).3

Joseph died (aged 45) on 20 December 1890 in Goulburn.2,3

 

Martha TICKNER1 was the daughter of Henry TICKNER (bef1821-1895) and Martha RIDEOUT (1828-1875).
