Nancy MCNAMARA1 (known as 'Nance'), daughter of Bartholomew MCNAMARA (1791?-1856) and Bridget LENEHAN (1788-1873), was born in 1835 in Clare, Ireland. Shipping records indicate her native place as Lisdrumlandna, Clare.1,2 She was a follower of the Catholic faith .1 In 1851 she was a domestic servant .1 In 1851 she was able to read and write.1
Nance migrated from Clare to Sydney, NSW arriving on 14 August 1851. She travelled to Australia with her parents and siblings on the ship "Sarah" which left c. May 1851. They settled in the Queanbeyan NSW district.1,3
