William Lee (Snr) GEGG (1818-1855)

William Lee (Snr) GEGG,1 son of James GEGG ( -1846) and Euphemia WILSON ( - ), was born on 10 June 1818 in Dalkeith, Midlothian in Scotland.2,3,4 He was baptised in 1824 (approx.) in an unidentified place or church. His relationship to John is Maternal Great (x2) Grandfather. In 1824 (approx.) William resided at 6 Swan Lane in Rotherhithe, Surrey (pre-1888). It was on the south side of the Thames opposite Stephney. He lived at this address when he was baptised. He was a baker at D'Ayley St in London (Chelsea), Surrey.3 On 11 November 1845 he resided at d'Oyley St in London (Chelsea). This was at the time of his marriage.5,6 He married Sarah KING on 11 November 1845 at the Parish Church of St Luke in London (Chelsea). They were married by Banns. William's father James was present at the wedding as a witness.3,7,8,9,10,11

he died (aged 37) on 14 July 1855 in Tottenham London, Surrey.12,13,14

 

Sarah KING3 was the daughter of Abraham KING ( - ).

 

At the 1851 census, William and Sarah were co-resident at 7 Townsend St, Southwark, Surrey, England with their two children, William (age 3) and James (age 9 months) plus an annuitant aunt, Janet (aged 61) , who was born in Scotland.15
