Sarah TOWNER,1 daughter of Henry TOWNER (1759?- ) and Mary WILSON ( - ), was born on 14 August 1784 in East Guldeford, Sussex.1,2 Her relationship to John is Maternal Great (x3) Grandmother. Sarah married Edward TICKNER on 12 October 1810 in East Guldeford.1,2,3
she migrated from Gravesend, Kent to Camden, NSW arriving in September 1838 (approx.). Sarah travelled to Australia on the "Florist" with her husband Edward and children Sarah, Peter, John, Henry, Elizabeth and Maria. The ship departed Gravesend, Kent on 14 Jun 1838.3
she died (aged 75) on 7 June 1860 at "Richfield Farm" in Camden. A death notice appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald on 13 June 1860 as follows "Tickner - June 7th at Richfield Farm, near Camden, Sarah, the beloved wife of Edward Tickner, aged 75 years, sincerely regretted by a numerous circle of relations and friends".1,2,4,5 She was buried on 11 June 1860 in St John's Anglican church in Camden.5,6 She and Daniel FORD were an unmarried couple.
