Edward Tickner (b.1789)

Edward TICKNER,1,2,3 son of Thomas TICKNER (bef1758-1816) and Susannah BAILEY (1763-1816), was born on 19 September 1789 in Wittersham, Kent.1,4 He was baptised on 5 June 1808 in East Guldeford, Sussex.4 His relationship to John is Maternal Great (x3) Grandfather. Edward married Sarah TOWNER on 12 October 1810 in East Guldeford.1,2,5

he migrated from Gravesend, Kent to Camden, NSW arriving in September 1838 (estimated). Edward travelled to Australia on the "Florist" with his wife Sarah and children Sarah, Peter, John, Henry, Elizabeth and Maria. The ship departed Gravesend on 14 June 1838.5,6 He was a farmer and labourer .7

he died (aged 75) on 14 October 1864 at "Camberfield" in Razorback, NSW. A death notice appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald on Monday 17 October 1864 as follows "Death : On the 14th instant, at Camberfield, near Camden, Mr Edward Tickner, aged 75 years".1,2,8,9 He was buried on 15 October 1864 in St John's Anglican church in Camden.2,7

 

Sarah TOWNER2 was the daughter of Henry TOWNER (1759?- ) and Mary WILSON ( - ). She and Edward TICKNER had the following children:
