Richard Stephen PARTRIDGE (1836-1881)

Richard Stephen PARTRIDGE,1,2 son of Stephen PARTRIDGE (1793-1878) and Julia COTTERDOWN (1812?-1889), was born on 30 September 1836 in Port Macquarie, NSW.1,2,3 He was christened on 25 December 1836 at St Thomas Church of England in Port Macquarie.4 He married Catherine Jane CUNNING on 3 October 1867 in Port Macquarie.5,6 In 1869 he was a sawyer .7 In 1877 he was a splitter and fencer .8

Richard and Catherine had 8 children :

- Louisa Lillian Jane PARTRIDGE (b. 15 Jun 1869 "Brickfields" Port Macquarie NSW; chr. 8 Aug 1869 Port Macquarie NSW; d. 25 Oct 1869 aged 4 Months; bur. 26 Oct 1869 by Rev F R KEMP). Cause of Death recorded as Convulsions

- Adeline Louisa (b. 14 Sep 1870 "The Glebe" Port Macquarie NSW; chr. 13 Nov 1870 Port Macquarie NSW)

- Alberta Pearl PARTRIDGE (b. 16 Aug 1872 Port Macquarie; bap. Sept 1872 St Thomas C of E Port Macquarie; d. 21 May 1873 Aged 9 months "The Glebe" Port Macquarie NSW; bur. 23 May 1873 Roman Catholic Cemetery Port Macquarie). From birth she suffered with Hydracephalus which is a build-up of cerebrospinal fluid caused by a blockage. She was treated by Dr. Parsons

- Arthur Henry PARTRIDGE (b. June 1874 (est); d.26 Dec 1875 aged 18 Months Port Macquarie NSW; bur. 28 Dec 1875 from St Thomas Church by Rev F R Kemp in St Thomas Cemetery)

- Lavinia Isabel PARTRIDGE (b. 28 Jun 1876 at the Flagstaff, Port Macquarie NSW; d. 15 Dec 1877 Aged 18 Months; bur. 16 Dec 1877). Her Cause of Death was narcotic poisoning after eating portion of a Trumpet Flower. This was the verdict as given by Coroner, Thomas W Palmer. She was buried without any Clergy being present

- Arthur Francis PARTRIDGE (b. 16 Jun 1878 at William St Port Macquarie; d. 2 Jul 1880 Port Macquarie NSW; bur. 3 Jul 1880 from St Thomas Church by Rev. W. H. SAUNDERS). His cause of Death was recoeded as Worms

- Hubert Ignatius PARTRIDGE (b.1880; d.1956 Walcha NSW).6,9

Richard died (aged 44) on 10 February 1881 at Tacking Point Rd in Port Macquarie. The cause was abscess disease of the liver. He was attended by Dr la Roche.4,10 He was buried on 11 February 1881 in Port Macquarie. The ceremony was held at St Thomas Church of England.4,10
