Coral McNamara (nee Cooper)

Clement Cornelius MCNAMARA (known as 'Clem'), son of Thomas Patrick MCNAMARA (1872-1945) and Ellen Agnes GRADY (1883-1958), was born on 18 October 1911 in Burra, NSW.1 He married Coral M COOPER in 1934 at the BDM District in Canterbury, NSW.2

between 4 February 1944 and 11 September 1944 when aged 32 he served in World War II in the Works Training Unit, RAAF. He enlisted at Sydney NSW. His service number was 139660. It's unknown what rank he achieved.3

Clem was a self-employed person . He started up and ran his own business for all his working life making and selling blinds. He attended the homes of his customers, measuring and quoting for the work and then manufactured and installed the product.4 his interests included music. He played the piano and was quite a good singer.5

between 1955 and 1980 Clem and Coral M COOPER lived at Marshall St in Bankstown, NSW. They lived a large part of their married life there.6

he died (aged 87) on 17 March 1999 at the Housing Commission Units in East Hills, NSW. A death notice was published in the Sydney Daily Telegraph on 19 March 1999.7,8

When he was young John used to go to their house as a member of the Central Bankstown CYO, of which their son Clem was President. The dates are guesstimates only and probably have a larger range. Their house was just up the road from the home of future Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating
