Images of Dot showing her 21st Birthday cake and the card from her parents (Henry and Florist Collins)
Among the possessions of Gladys King/Owen (nee Collins) was a Thank You card which is reproduced here. Dot was born on 6 March 1922 and she mentions it's her 56th birthday, so a dating of March 1978 has been used.

INSIDE THE CARD
Dear Gladys, Well this sure has been a Birthday & a half. One thing I'll never forget my 56 years, I have been upset over your getting booked. how fast were you going?
I'll help you pay the fine as I feel responsible as you stayed to help me.
I will try & get down for a couple of hours on the 22nd (a Wednesday). If I can't make it I'll ring you. as in my world I can't go to far ahead with any arrangements for pleasure only work. I bought a Jackpot Ticket, its in Maria and your names. Marias address but hope you don't forget me if you win.
See .pdf file for additions made (642, 693, circled 20). Roller Door is possibly the name of the ticket
At long last the Pink is going on the house. will be very nice when all finished I think (I hope). Hope John got away and everything O.K. If I make it on the 22nd will be nearly dinner time as I will be working till 9.30.
