Although the two cards above are not dated, it is believed that they were sent together at the same Christmas. Both cards are similiar in style (most notable on the message side when the thumbnail is enlarged) and the pen ink appears to be the same. The handwriting also appears to be a little immature compared to other samples of Bertha's so the cards could well have been sent before she was married.

Dear Mum
Aunty wants to know if a letter came for Olive from her after she left. She posted one the Sunday morning before Ol left thinking that she would get it on the Monday morning but she didn't get it. We are going over to Mat A's today (Tuesday) & to see Uncle tomorrow. Tell Flo that Sunday will be Gertie Borehams Birthday. I see in yesterdays paper that Mrs Cecil Nash is dead. We will be on the look out for Dad on Friday. No more now. Trusting all are well.
Best love to all from Bert

Message : Dear Mum, Just a P.C. to let you know my hand is nearly alright again. My finger is stiff yet don't know what happened to it. I note May E. & Jack E. were married. do they live in G-Burn. Had a white frost here this morning. Had a letter from Albert on Monday. He has not got a place yet. Hope all are well. Best love to all
from Bert (31 May 1911 - It is not known whether this was before or after her marrriage as while she was married in 1911 the exact date is not known. However the card was sent from Stratford in the Gloucester area where they lived the rest of their lives. Whether this indicates they were married or whether she was in Stratford helping to organise her wedding is not known.)
