It is very difficult to ascertain where our branch of the Over family came from. The only facts that we know for certain is that Samuel Over (1) was in Nuneaton in August 1800 as the banns for his marriage was read during that month.

Where Samuel Over came from is a mystery. According to the 1841 census we know that he was born somewhere in England but not in Warwickshire, unfortunately the 1841 census only recorded if the person was born in the county. Samuel died in 1846 and if he had lived until 1851 then the census for that year would have recorded the exact city, town or village that he was born in.

There is another large branch of the Over family which originated in the Leamington Hastings area of Warwickshire and then migrated to Rugby and Leicestershire. This branch is also being researched by Nigel Over of the Isle of Man and Frank Over of Leicester.

I am convinced that these two branches are linked but as yet no connection can be made
