Robert HOGG:
Robert HOGG was born 1825 in Yester, Scotland and married Mary CHRISTIE in 1848 in Edinburgh.  They had five children (James b. 1849, Robert b. 1851, Edwin b. 1852, William b. 1854 and Ann Veary b. 1856) in Edinburgh where Robert was a Master Watchmaker.   Children born to Robert and Mary in New Zealand were Charles (b.1859) and Alfred Thomas (b. 1864).  In March 1859 Robert HOGG took over the Henry PERRING jewellery shop in Rattray St, Dunedin and, before 1892, established a jewellery shop in Balclutha along with eldest son James. Edwin also established a jewellery store in Dunedin.  If you have a connection with this family or would like to know more please contact Bruce Simons.
