ARRIVAL OF THE WILD DUCK
Wellington Independent January 21st 1865
This well known trader arrived in this port on Thursday last. She is still commanded by our old friend Captain Bishop, and has made an excellent passage of 98 days, from land to land. She left Gravesend on Thursday, October 6th, arrived on the morning of the 8th at Plymouth, sailed from thence the same evening. Had a fine passage to the Equator, which she crossed on November 6th, and experiencing moderate weather, arrived on the 19th January. She brings 35 steerage and 25 cabin passengers, besides a general cargo. The passengers are all well, but in apparently a great state of mind at their ill-success in obtaining a local habitation. Captain Bishop has also had in his charge a superior cow and calf, which are in first rate condition. It is not yet decided whether she will unload at the wharf or not.
