ARRIVAL OF THE W E GLADSTONE

The barque, W E Gladstone, Capt. Jones, from London, arrived in harbour this day at 10:00am, having made the pasage in 99 days from the Downs. She forms another of the fleet of the New Zealand Shipping Company.

EMBEZZLEMENT OF CARGO

Willis Darling, Joseph Parkin, John Woods, John Whittan, Charles Forman, Thomas Byford and Edward Frost, seamen on board the barque W. E. Gladstone, and who were on remand, were again brought up on this charge. There were two other charges. Mr H. N. Nalder appeared for the prosecution, and asked that the charge against Forman might be withdrawn. Accused asked that the case might be adjourned, so that they might obtain the services of a solicitor, which they had been unable to do up to that time. No opposition was offered by the prosecution, the case was adjourned until to-morrow.
