ARRIVAL OF THE MAORI
Otago Witness March 6th 1852
We have noticed the arrival of the "Maori", with 68 passengers, a most valuable addition to our community in every respect. We regret to hear that she was in great danger in consequence of the cable parting while she was lying at the heads. This would not have occurred if the Pilot had had a full boat's crew; as, could he have reached her in time, she could have come into port on Saturday evening; but having no Pilot on board, she was compelled to anchor outside the harbour, and the wind shifting in the meantime, was obliged to put to sea for a few days.
