ARRIVAL OF THE HAMILLA MITCHELL
- NEW PLYMOUTH
The Taranaki Herald February 8th 1854
The Hamilla Mitchell arrived from Auckland on the morning of Friday last, bringing 27 passengers, most of whom have been detained in Auckland since the end of November.
A striking contrast to the long delay this vessel experienced in the Port of Auckland (so inconvenient to passengers for this place) is to be found in her short stay at New Plymouth. She came to anchor in our road-stead about noon on Friday the 3rd inst., and sailed on her homeward voyage before dark on the following day, having in this short interval, landed her passengers, discharged 60 tons of cargo, and taken in fresh provisions. The Hamilla Mitchell made the run down in eight days.
