Lewis Barge

	Lewis Barge moved to the Cumberland Gap country of North Carolina 
about 1761. He was of German descent but the date of his family's arrival in 
the United States is unclear. [ref 1]
	Records indicate that Barge served in the Revolutionary War. By trade, 
he was a hatter, an innkeeper, and a tavern owner. His name will be found 
among the signers of the Liberty Point Resolves who supported the colonies 
during the revolution.
	By 1790, Lewis was listed among the heads of household in the Fayette 
District of Anson County, NC. [ref 2] Barge was buried in the Cripple Creek 
Cemetery, Fayetteville, NC.

	John R. Barge was the son of Lewis and Christina Barge. He settled in 
the Pine Flat community about 1825. Besides his accomplishments as a doctor, 
John Barge helped erect the first Methodist Church in the Pine Flat Community. 
It was often referred to as "Dr. Barge's church." 
	Elizabeth Webb Hill was the daughter of Thomas Hill. Listed in his last 
will and testiment, dated December 15, 1845 are his wife, Elizabeth W. and his 
brother Abel Barge. [ref 3]

Lewis T. Barge

	Lewis T. Barge was the son of John R. Barge and Elizabeth Webb Hill.
	Elefarge C. Barge, called Ellie C., was Lewis' cousin. She was the 
daughter of Abel Barge. Ellie was born December 25, 1827 and died 
December 3, 1910. She is buried in the Pine Flat Cemetery.
Thomas Hill Barge

	Thomas Hill Barge was the son of John R. Barge and Elizabeth Webb Hill. 
He was named for his grandfather, Thomas Hill. Thomas was a druggist in the 
Monterey community. He died at his Monterey home after a lengthy illness.
	Talitha C. Trawick was the daughter of William Henry Traweek and Sarah 
Yeldell. Talitha was born in July, 1841. She died in October, 1928 in 
Birmingham at the home of her daughter. Talitha is buried at the Monterey 
Cemetery.
