Guy Stanley

Two cousins, same first and last name, same grandfather:  Guy Stanley from George Dean Stanley and Guy Stanley from Edward Lee Stanley.   Both George Stanley and Edward Stanley were half-brothers with different mothers.   They are the sons of Francis Edward Stanley.

The first Guy Stanley was born in February 1918 to George Dean Stanley and Bertie Ellzey.   He died in 1945 during an air mission over India during the Second World War.   He was first buried in Calcutta, India and then his remains were brought back to the National Cemetery at Vicksburg, Mississippi.   Guy was the only son of George and Bert and never married.  His passing hurt the family deeply as the promise of his life was cut from him.   His younger sister Audrey, never fully recovered from the loss.   The grief remained with her until her death in 1977.   Prior to his entering military duty, Guy was a pre-med student at the University of Mississippi.

The second Guy Stanley was born in Kerman, California on April 5, 1948 to Edward Lee Stanley and Dora Matthews.  He was named in memory of his late cousin.   He was the last of four sons and is currently unmarried.  He received his education in California and graduated from California State University, Fresno.   He has been an agricultural accountant since 1972 upon graduation from college.   At the age of 25, he became one of the youngest corporate controllers of a multi-million dollar company in Fresno County.   He is now Contoller for Fresh Pacific Fruit and Vegetable, Inc., a large international produce firm.  He has served in several fraternal organizations including the Scottish and York Rites.   He was a lay-director of the California Theological Seminary in Fresno.   He became a co-founder of the California Civic Action League, a political service organization, and served as its Executive Director.   Currently, Guy is the host of OurPage: The Stanley Family, a genealogical family review on the internet.

One of Guy's principal philosophies of life is to learn from life and do something different every year.   Focus on a goal, strive for its completion and build on another.   No one should ever deprive themselves of the breath of life and the value it gives to others.  Contribute what you can to the development of others.  Encourage the strength of character, boldness of charity and the purity of trust.   We have all been placed  here for a specific purpose...one should never shirk from that responsiblity.   One life effects another and so on.   If one can give of oneself for the betterment and enjoyment of others, one has accomplished the ultimate principle of life.
