The following was contributed by M. Dwight Hurst, a grand descendant of Daniel Falvey:
His complexion was fair. His hair was brown. His eyes were blue. He was 5 feet 9 inches in height. He apparently was illiterate and signed via X.
He enlisted enlisted as a private, February 22, 1862. He signed up for "3 years or war." He was also ill for a time. Some of the logs list him as AWL. It doesn't appear to have been that serious an offense as he did not appear to have suffered any difficulty as a result of being AWL.
During this service, he was taken a prisoner of war. He was captured
at Morton, Mississippi on February 9, 1864. He was hospitalized August
12, 1864 and released August 16, 1864.
