Bill and Lucy were married in the home of her parents in Asbury, Dale Co, AL. The wedding was performed by the father of the bride. Bill and Lucy lived in Asbury were all their childrew were born. Their first home was a little cabin on the west side of Cotton Creek, across the creek from his parents and across the road from his grandfather. About 1906 or 1907, Bill built a larger house north of Asbury Methodist Church on the Asbury-Skipperville road. Their first child was born in the cabin. The others were born in the new house. They lived in the new house until about 1918 when they moved the Cottonwood, AL. They lived and farmed just southwest of his brother Jim. When crops were not so good, Bill did work as a blacksmith and carpenter. Around 1923 they moved into Cottonwood where they lived until their deaths. After moving into town, Bill owned and operated a grist mill until his retirement. After Bill retired, his son Floyd, ran the mil until his death.
