OTTUMWA - Alfred F. Rupe, 83, of Ottumwa, died April 5, 2005, at Hospice House.
He was born Feb. 5, 1922 in Ottumwa to Elvy "Pete" and Dora "Dode" Morris Rupe. He married Maxine Marcell Blomgren Aug. 10, 1940 in Lancaster, Mo.
He was a manager for Holland Furnace Co. and was a truck driver for the Teamsters Union. He was the founder of Rupe's Hydraulics Co. of San Marcos, Calif.
Survivors include three sons, Jack of San Marcos, Calif., Robert of Ottumwa, and John of Knoxville; three daughters, Judith Murphy of Ottumwa; Doris Finley of Sun City, Calif. and Linda Stainer of Ottumwa; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; brother, LaVon Lee of Floris; and two sisters, Juanita Heckathorn and Peggy Wood, both of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, Jim Alan Rupe; sister, Garnet Kelly; and brother, Basil Rupe.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Ellenberger officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Basil Rupe

Basil L. 'Shorty' Rupe, 69, of 218 S. Ransom, OTTUMWA, died at 3:30 p.m., Sept. 2, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 3, 1930, to Elvy 'Pete' and Dora 'Dode' Myrtle Morris Rupe of Ottumwa. He married Patricia Copple on May 17, 1949.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Jerri Rupe and Nina Stocker, both of Ottumwa; five sons, Bill of Brownwood, Texas, Wayne, Steve, Jody and Jason Rupe all of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred Rupe of Ottumwa and Lee Rupe of Floris; and two sisters, Juanita Heckethorn of Floris and Peggy Wood of Ottumwa.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. Byron Newland of Hickory Grove Community Church officiating. Cremation will follow.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will be present Wednesday from the funeral service time until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family.

James Rupe 1928 - 2003
Services for James B. Rupe, 74, Aledo, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Private inurnment will be in Aledo Cemetery.
Mr. Rupe died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island.
He was employed 43 years as an over-the-road truck driver at various companies. He retired in 1993 from Gless Brothers, Blue Grass, Iowa. He was born June 17, 1928, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He married Twila Pettit in 1950 in Ottumwa.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Survivors include his wife, Twila; daughters, Sandy Burnett, Ottumwa, Sherry Barnett, Aledo, Stephanie Johnson, Fort Collins, Colo., Lori Rupe, Delta, Colo., and Brenda Rupe, Aledo; a son, Steven, Aledo; nine grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Martsching, Bloomfield, Iowa, Bonnie Batterson, Ottumwa, Nellie Bradshaw, Bladensburg, Iowa, and Peggy West, Blakesburg, Iowa; and brothers, Jack, Ottumwa, and Bill, Eldon, Iowa. James Rupe
James B. Rupe, 74, of Aledo, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Private inurnment is in Aledo Cemetery. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born June 17, 1928, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Blaine and Sarah Bower Rupe. He married Twila J. Pettit April 23, 1950, in Ottumwa.
He was an over the road truck driver for 43 years for various companies, retiring in 1993 from Gless Brothers, Blue Grass, Iowa.
He was a 23-year member of the Teamsters. He enjoyed reading.
Survivors include his wife, Twila, Aledo; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Ron Burnett, Ottumwa, Sherry and John Barnett, Aledo, Stephanie and Steve Johnson, Fort Collins, Colo., Lori Rupe, Delta, Colo., and Brenda Rupe, Aledo; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Patricia Rupe, Aledo; nine grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Martsching, Bloomfield, Iowa, Bonnie Batterson, Ottumwa, Nellie Bradshaw, Bladensburg, Iowa, and Peggy West, Blakesburg, Iowa; and brothers, Jack Rupe, Ottumwa, and Bill Rupe, Eldon, Iowa. RAYMOND (TAMP) RUPE
Raymond (Tamp) Rupe, 60, a native of Cheshire Twp, was the son of Frank and Mary Might Rupe, was born in 1897. Three brothers survive and one brother, Frank preceded him in death. Mr Rupe died in 1956.
Rupe received his education in the Kyger schools and engaged in farming prior to his enlistment in World War I. He was a member of Co F of National Guard which he became a part of the 37th division. He served in France and Belgium for two years. On his return from the war he operated a sawmill and served as a guard at the Naval Depot here and at Point Pleasant, WV, living in Kanauga, OH.
Mr Rupe was twice married, his first being to Birdie Sadler. His second was to Ora Swisher at Cheshire, OH in 1928. She survives along with the following children; Lloyd Rupe, Kanauga, OH; Mrs Clarence (Eunice)Woodall,Gallipolis, OH; Mrs Charles(Mary) Donnally, Columbus, OH; Gerald Rupe, New York City, NY; Paul, Richard, Delores, Frances and Kenneth, at home. A daughter by his first marriage, Mrs Wayne (Annabelle) Sisson, Kyger, OH.
Funeral services at Kyger Methodist Church, Kyger, OH with Rev. E C Venz officiating.
Burial in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire, OH by Miller Home for Funerals, Gallipolis, OH.

BLOOMFIELD - Rebecca L. Rupe, 47, of 12831 Neon Ave., died July 1, 2002, at her home.
She was born May 9, 1955, in Battle Creek, Mich., to Orval Leo and Arneita Lieb Stansberry.
She lived in Ottumwa until 1983, when she moved to Texas. She then moved to South Carolina in 1988, and then moved to Bloomfield in 2000. She had worked at West Oil Co. and Speedway Starvin' Marvin, both in Hartsville, S.C., and in R Place Cafe in Bloomfield.
Surviving are two brothers, Orval Leo Stansberry Jr. of Fort Dodge and Robert Gerald Stansberry of Ottumwa; and her companion, Gerald Coyne of Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Stansberry.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. Loyd Osborn officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
