Rupe Ancestry
As many of you are confused about who your immigrant Rupp is, I have borrowed other Rupp/Rupe research and added it to this site. This is get these Martins and Johannes straightened out once and for all. I do believe that Jacob, my ancestor, b. abt 1720 and Johannes b. abt 1728 are brothers. I have many research reasons to believe this, but as you will see, these birth and death dates have gotten all tangled together. Their deaths occuring in the same year, but in seperate places should be an eye opener to you!
Johannes died in PA. My Jacob died in VA.
Another tidbit is; Johannes means that the person had no middle name. So, Johannes might well have been Johannes Martin Rupp, and with that I say this, Jacob and Johannes probably had the same father and his name was most probably Martin RUPP.
In our line, Jacob names his son b. 1743 Martin ( m. Margaret (NOT FREY!!)), and Martin b. 1743 named a son Martin b. 1765 (m. Christina Zirkle) Martin b. 1765 named a son Martin (m. Halfhill), so this line of Martins mean something from the old world, I believe they honored their father, grandfather, great grandfather and so on with this name. Jacob and Johannes even named their children the same names; Johannes (Martin?), Jacob, Samuel, Henry, John, Margaret and even Christina . so, all this means something, so please folks, take a minute and look at the 2 different families and lets get all this junk off the websites! I will post more as I have time.
