Henry and Rosa (Nimsgern) Kennebeck

Henry was the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Schaefer) Kennebeck. He was born on the homestead of his grandparents, Johann and Adelaide (Hemling) Kernebeck, at Pistakee Bay, McHenry Township, Il. He was a twin, his sister was Teresa Kennebeck (Freund). At the age of about 4 years, Henry's father sold the Kennebeck farmstead at Pistakee Bay, and the family moved to McHenry Township east of the Fox River, this farm was located off of what today is Rte 120 near the intersection of Chapel Hill Road.

Rosa was the daughter of Frank and Catharine (Schaeffer) Nimsgern. Rosa was born on the homestead of her grandparents John and Gertrude ( Jung ) Nimsgern, in Spring Grove, Il. At the age of about 9 years, Rosa's grandparents John and Gertrude passed away. Their children sold the farmstead to the Michael Freund family, and Rosa's father Frank purchased the Willliam Moore farm, located adjacent to that of his late parents, John and Gertrude Nimsgern.

Henry and Rosa were married on 23 October 1923 at St Peter's Catholic Church in Spring Grove, Il. Henry was 26 years of age, Rosa was 21 years of age. They lived on Henry's family farm off of Rte 120, East of the Fox River, in McHenry, Il., until their own home was built on Kennebeck land on the North side of Rte 120, accross from the Kennebeck farmstead. This is where their son Bernard Vernon and Elvera Mary were born. Their son David Joseph was born at St Teresa's in Waukegan, Il.

Henry and Rosa are at rest at St Mary's Cemetery in McHenry, Il.

Henry and Rosa are my maternal grandparents, their daughter Elvera is my mother.
