Family Poetry

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As promied I will start to upload poems by family members. Any family members that would like to share their poems with everyone, please, email them to me.
At one time I found a folder that simply said "Poems by Flossie". I ask grandma about them and she said she saved all the poems she wrote for "folks". She ask me if I'd type them up for her, which I did. Now to honor her further, I offer them, first, here on our family page of poems. I still call them "Poems by Flossie". Her full name was Flossie Dimple (Duke) Stephens. She was born February 14, 1910.
Do remember that everything you see here is copyright© of the author or the owner of the works. Please do not copy without permission.
Poems by Flossie.
My grandmother entrusted me with her poetry and I hope to honor her by presenting them here. This link has "My Brother", "Flossie's Heart" and "Thoughtless".
More Poems by Flossie.
Anyone who got one of grandma's poems got part of this special woman. She put her heart in every word. This link has the card she wrote for her sister Birdie's 81st Birthday, One called "God's Love" and another named "I'd Love To Do".
"A Christmas Poem", by Flossie
"A Faithful Friend" by Flossie
Friends and neighbors were extremely important to my grandmother, as you can tell, by reading this poem.
"Fall" by Frank Duke
I include, my cousin Frank's poems here, as well as on his story page in the Reading Room. If you have not been to the Reading Room link, you are missing some wonderful stories from members of our family. Frank is the son of Flossie's brother Martin Ebert Duke and her sister-in-law Stella (Tate) Duke, that she spoke so lovely of.
Another cousin and brother to Frank Duke above is Bud Duke, who has written many wonderful gospel songs with his wife Glenda(Humphrey)Duke. Flossie was very proud of her nephew Bud and his wife Glenda's talents, as can be seen by her notes written on the edges of the page of this song.
Poems and Saying from The Beck Family Book by Thelma (Beck)McDonald.
One thing our family has in common is our love of writing poetry. Thelma is the daughter of Birdie(Duke)Beck, who Flossie honored with a special birthday poem above.
These next ones were written by me. I have a lot of books of my poetry and will share some here. A few were published in poetry books and many were shared for special occasions, like my grandmother did. She taught me as a child how valuable hand written cards could be. I will include some of the cards at a later date.
This first poem was written when our last child was married and they all had homes of their own.
