Updated March 2008

If you are researching "Orange" and would like to post a message on this web page, please send me an email with your request for information.

Do you know of any ORANGE connection to Bath, Somerset, or to the name RANDOLPH ? A relative was bapt. Eleanor RANDOLPH 27th May 1821 at Walcott, Bath, daughter of James and Mary RANDOLPH. At marriage to William STANDEN in 1848 at Marylebone, London, Eleanor is Leonora Penelope RANDOLPH, but died as Leonora Orange Penelope Randolph STANDEN at Blyth, Northumberland in 1911. At the birth of her first two children in 1849 and 1851 at Little Albany Street, St Pancras, London, she is Leonora Penelope Orange STANDEN, formerly RANDOLPH.
Witnesses to her marriage in 1848 in Marylebone were Henry RANDOLPH and his wife of Little Albany Street, St Pancras. Henry RANDOLPH was born ca. 1817 at Bath (1851 census) and was married 1837 at Marylebone as Henry Orange RANDOLPH.
At birth Leonora's father is James RANDOLPH, carpenter. At his marriage Henry's father is James RANDOLPH, solicitor.
I have not been able to progress this RANDOLPH line any further.
Can anyone suggest a reason why these two RANDOLPHs of Bath should 'adopt' the name Orange ?
