Banns of Marriage between James Coulthard and Isabel Coulthard, both of this parish were published in this Church on Sunday, the 31st of October 1779, by me James Fenton officiating Curator and on Sunday the 7th November 1779 by the said James Fenton and on Sunday the 14th of November 1779 by the said James Fenton

James Coulthard and Isabel Coulthard both of this parish were married in this Church by Banns this fifteenth day of November, in the year 1779 by me James Fenton officiating Curator. This marriage was solemnised between us James Coulthard X his mark & Isabel Coulthard X her mark, in the presence of Anthony Johnson and John Nicholson

[James and Isabel married on “Monday” 15th November 1779 – Isabel was nee Coats, from Muker. She originally married John Coulthard in 1773 – but she became widowed and wed James. At this time there were only abt 200 souls living in this rural community of Brough]
