Jasper & Newton Langston, 20th Alabama Infantry
     Jasper David LANGSTON was born on 22 June 1837 in Six Mile, Bibb County, Alabama, son of Obediah LANGSTON and Virginia E. McELROY.1 He was a farmer.
     Jasper David LANGSTON appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1860, in the household of Obediah LANGSTON in Bibb County, Alabama.2
     Jasper began military service at age 24 on 9 September 1861 in Centreville, Alabama, as a private in Co. D 20th Alabama Infantry, CSA and continued until surrender 9 APR 1865 at Salisbury, North Carolina. He served in the pioneer squad, receiving $11 a month and carried an enfield rifle musket.
     Jasper married Cirrenia "Rena" Abagail COTTINGHAM, daughter of Moses Lambert COTTINGHAM and Nancy Catherine WOODS, circa 1868 in Bibb County, Alabama.
     Jasper David LANGSTON died on 10 January 1920 in Six Mile, Bibb County, Alabama, at age 82.3 He was buried in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
