Ladimon SHELTON

     
     Ladimon SHELTON was born circa 1736, son of Burrell SHELTON and Mary Hurst.
     Ladimon married Martha Brown circa 1757 in Halifax County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of John Brown, who left a will 13 Mar 1758 in Halifax County. The will probated in June 1759 named these heirs: son Nathan, wife Patience, Patience Pope, Elizabeth Edwards, Priscilla Brown, Hardy Brown, Henrietta Brown, Sarah Brown, Olive Brown, grandson Bural Shelton. Nathan Brown, Samuel Edwards and Ladimon Shelton executors. John Pope, Geo. Crudup, and Nicholas Dixon were witnesses.²
     Ladimon married second Ruth (?) circa 1766 in Halifax County, North Carolina.
     Ladimon SHELTON and David Lane were named executors in the will of William Robinson dated on 28 August 1771 in Halifax County, North Carolina. Mr. Robinson's will, probated that same year, left 5 pounds to his daugther, Sarah Robinson, "to give her a year of schooling." He asked that Sarah "remain in the care of Ruth Shelton until she is 21." His other daughter, Elizabeth, was left in the care of Betty Lewis.³
     Ladimon SHELTON left a will dated on 2 June 1786 in Halifax County, North Carolina. Signed in August 1786, he left to his daughters Patty Shelton and Hannah Shelton bed and furniture each. Lend wife Ruth Shelton one-third of my land and personal estate during her natural life. Son Willis Shelton land, horse, etc. Son Burrell Shelton, land. Executors my wife, my son Burrell and James Baker. Witness: Joshua White, Sarah White and William Moncrief.⁴
     Ladimon SHELTON died in August 1786 in Halifax County, North Carolina.
