Mae married Earl WATTS, son of William Lewis WATTS and Minnie Lee GILLILAND, on 3 June 1958 in Bessemer, Jefferson County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Richard and Mamie Harris Carroll. Both Earl and Mae had two previous marriages. He had divorced his prior wife in 1956 and Mae had been divorced in October 1957. Earl's occupation at the time of this marriage was repairman.1
