The colonial records for New Kent County were distroyed by fire in 1787. Then the records for 1787 to 1864 were destroyed by fire. The records since 1864 are intact and are in good condition.
There is some information for Peter I in the "Heritage of Stokes Co., Nc., 1981"
published by the Stokes County Historical Society; Germanton, North Carolina 27019. [ Peter King Sr. #601]. As his daughter, Matilda King married William Rutledge, Sr. some references can be found in the Rutledge family history.
