originated in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking region of Belgium, or in the nearby Aachen area
of Germany. Some migrated to England in the late 1600s. Many Ollis Families remain in
England, where there are thriving Ollis communities in the cities of Birmingham, Bristol,
Keynsham, and Portsmouth. Others spread out to distant parts of the British Empire - to
Australia, Ireland, South Africa, and America."
