The following is in response to a query that I sent to Gwen Gregan,
in Victoria, Australia. None of these Ollises have been linked to
the Boston Ollis Family Tree.

Dear Prentis,
Re your guerie on the OLLIS name I am sending the OLLIS
sheets I have plus the census for 1841, 1851. I don't
know a great deal more about the OLLIS family. Susannah
Ollis married Alfred Jenkins and they came to Melbourne
on the "Commodore Perry" leaving Liverpool, England on
28 May 1859 and arriving in Melbourne on 25 August 1859.
I'm also enclosing a copy of Ollis names from the 1881 Census.

NOTES:
The census for 1841 was taken on 6 June 1841 and ages were rounded
off to the nearest 5. So ages would not be accurate.
In 1851 the census was taken on the 30 March and more accurate
information was given.
Susanna was married in 1852 on May 30th, at St Mary's Bitton to
Alfred Jenkins.
The name Ollis appears as a Christian name in many generations on
the Jenkins side of the family. |
