The Will of William Troutbeck Sharpe, Agent & Banker of West Smithfields London

(Dated 1822)

London 6th of March 1822 I William Troutbeck Sharpe of West Smithfields City of London Agent and Banker do make this my last Will and Testament this sixth day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty two first I commend my soul to Almighty God Secondly after the payment of all my just debts I do give to my wife Catherine Stephen Sharpe all my real and personal property and money and whatsoever property I may be possesed of at my decease both at my house in Smithfield and also at my house at Highbury in the County of Middlesex for her use and benefit do dispose of as she may think fit I also give unto my said wife my share in my Agency and Banking Business for her to cary on or dispose of as she may think fit I give unto my brother James Sharpe fifty pounds and I also forgive him his debt to and to this day. I do also appoint my said wife my sole executrix to this my last Will and Testament signed and delivered to her this sixth day of March eighteen hundred and twenty two William T Sharpe [signed] witnesses Elizabeth Sebbon [signed] Sarah Moss [signed]

Proved at London 25th June 1824 before the Worshipful Charles Coo Doctor of Laws and surrogate by the oath of Catherine Stephen Sharpe Widow the relict the sole executrix to whom admon was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.

The will was signed by William T Sharpe, as did the two witnesses Elizabeth Sebbon & Sarah Moss

The will was proved in 1824 to Catherine Stephen Sharpe, William's widow.

Elizabeth Sebbon was a friend of the family, in her will which was proved in 1851(not on this site) she leaves the sum of £5,000 to Frederick Sambalino of Florence (Italy?) Frederick is declared as the only next of kin to William Troutbeck Sharpe's Wife Catherine Stephen Sharpe, in Catherine's will (to be found on this site) Frederick is shown as her brother, Catherine & Elizabeth Sebbon were living together in the 1841 Census at Sebbons Buildings, Islington, Middlesex.

William's parents were William Sharpe & Sarah (nee Troutbeck, the daughter of William Troutbeck & Mary (nee Ollyer) Mary was the daughter of Richard Ollyer the Brewer of Holborn, London, who died in 1745.
