The Record of The Prerogative Court of Canterbury

for Richard Ollyer a Brewer of Holborn (Dated 1745 & 1757)

In the Name of God Amen I Richard Ollier of the parish of Saint Andrew Holbourn in the county of Middlesex Brewer being of sound mind and memory and understanding do make and publish this my laft Will and Testament in manor and form following First I give and bequeath unto my Son in Law William Troutbeck of the parish of Saint Andrew Holborn aforesaid Stable Keeper his executors administrators and afsigns all that my moiety or half part of all my leashold Houses Eftate and Premifses thereto belonging and which is lately purchased of Richard White together with Henry Woolley of Baldwins Gardens in the said parish of Saint Andrew Holborn Glazier and which are situate in Baldwins Gardens Leather Lane and Dove Court in the said parish for and during all the rest residue and remainder of the terms of years now to come and unexpired of and in the same and every part thereof alfo I give to the said Henry Woolley and to my Kinsman Joseph Ollyer Son of my late Brother Joseph Ollyer deceased the sum of one thousand and six hundred pounds which Sum as soon as conveniently may be paid in order to be placed out in Government and other sufficient Securities in Truft to and for my Daughter Alice which I do order to be paid or transferred to her at the day of Marriage or the age of twenty one years which shall first happen and the Dividends and the Interest thereof in the meantime becoming and I do hereby direct to be paid out by the said Truftees in Government and other sufficient securitys and to be paid and transferred by them to her my said Daughter at either of the said times but in case my said Daughter shall happen to dye before She attains the age of twenty one years or be married then I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof to all every the children of my Daughter Mary the Wife of the said William Troutbeck that shall be living at the time of the decease of my said Daughter Alice equally to be divided between them share and share alike alfo I give and devise unto my wife Mary Ollyer for and during the term of her natural life all that my Freehold Mesfuages and tenements and Premifses with their appurtenances situate in Fulwoods Rents in the parish aforesaid in the Occupations of myself and Benjamin Edmonds periwig maker [1] James White and Thomas Crow [2] periwig makers and from and after her decease then I give and devise the same and every part to my said Daughter Mary and my said Daughter Alice their Heirs and afsigns forever alfo I give to Joseph Willson of Faux Hall [Vauxhall] who married my Daughter in Law Ann Thomas deceased the sum of two hundred pounds on condition and provided he does not owe or molest my Executors or Truftees or incumber my Eftates on any amount whatsoever and do alfo execute a general Release discharging them and my said Estates of and from all demands whatsoever that he may pretend to claim alfo I give to the said Henry Woolley and Joseph Ollyer five hundred pounds stock of the Royal Exchange insurance now standing in my Name and my property in Truft to pay the Dividends thereof as they shall become out to my said Wife during her natural life and from and immediately after her decease then I give the same to my said Daughters Mary and Alice to be equally divided between them share and share alike alfo I give the said Joseph Ollyer the Sum of fifty pounds alfo I give the said Henry Woolley the Sum of fifty pounds alfo I give the said William Troutbeck a Silver Punch Bowl containing about one Gallon one Silver three pint Tankard with my Name written round the top and a Silver Quart Tankard alfo I give to my Servants William Johnson Richard Pate Eleanor Lawrence to each of them two Guineas also I give to Mary Holland Widow living in Fullwoods Rents and to Elizabeth Fryer widow one Guinea a peice to buy them Rings alfo I give to my Brother Charles Ollyer my Silver Watch made by Freeman of Grays Inn I alfo give my Wearing Apparell to be disposed of at the discretion of my Executrix except two Coats one of which I give to William Cooper Waterman and the other to William Stevens Fisherman at her like discretion lastly I give all the rest of my personal Eftate to my said Wife on condition that She at her own Expense maintain and Durate my said Daughter Alice until She attains the age of twenty one years or be married and in case my said Wife shall neglect or refuse so to do then and in such case I give to my said Daughter Alice But my further Will and Mind is that in case my said Daughter Alice shall happen to die before She attains to the age of twenty one years or be married then and in such case I give devise and bequeath all and every the Eftates intereft proceed Benefit and Sums of Money hereinbefore devised and bequeathed to her by me unto all and every of the children of my said Daughter Mary that shall be living at the time of the decease of my said Daughter Alice and to their heirs Executors and administrators and Afsigns for ever to be equally divided between them Share and Share alike and I do hereby nominate my said Wife sole Executrix of this my laft Will and Testament containing two sheets of paper hereby revoking all former Will and Wills by me heretofore made on witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this seventeenth day of September one thousand seven hundred and forty five Richd Ollyer [signed] Signed Sealed published and Declared by the above named Richard Ollyer as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnefses thereto in the presence of the said Testator and in the presence of each other Wm. This Will was proved at London the third day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty five before the Worshipfull Robert Chapman Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipfull John Bettesworth alfo Doctor of Laws MasterKeeper and commifsary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Mary Ollyer Widow the Relict of the deceased and sole Executrix named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattells and credits of the said deceased being first sworn duly to administer.

Also on a seperate note to the side (barely readable!) dated 1757:

On the twenty sixth day of March 1757 Admon with the Will annexed and of the Goods Chattells and Credits of Richard Ollyer late of the Parish of St Andrews Holborn in the County of Middlesex deced. left unadministered by Mary Ollyer Widow deced. while being the Relict Sole - Executrix and Residuary Legatee named in the said will was granted to Mary Troutbeck Widow the natural and lawfull Daughter and of the next of kin and Administratrix of the goods of the said Mary Ollyer deced. having been first sworn duly to administer (for that the said Mary Ollyer died intestate)

Richard married Mary Thomas of St Andrew's, Holborn in 1716, at the Parish Church of St Andrew's, in the Marriage Licence Allegation, his status is a Batchelor of 30 years, and the status of his Bride, Mary, a Widow of 29 years.
