16 August 1861 - absent due to illness
4 August 1862 - detached service
15 November 1862 - discharged from infantry after furnishing a substitute, transferred to cavalry

12 August 1862 - enrolled at Campbell Courthouse by his brother William H. Morgan
31 August 1862 - wounded, returned home
19 March 1863 - returned to service
3 July 1863 - wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

21 May 1864 - captured at Milford Station, Virginia
13 February 1865 - exchanged
27 May 1865 - paroled at Campbell Courthouse

21 May 1864 - captured at Milford Station, Virginia
29 May 1864 - committed to Old Capitol Prison, Washington, DC
15 June 1864 - sent to Fort Delaware
20 August 1864 - sent to Hilton Head, South Carolina
20 October 1864 - sent to Fort Pulaski, Georgia
21 May 1865 - released by order of War Department, listed residence as Campbell County, Virgnia, described as light complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, 6'2" tall
