City native Peyton Morgan will be playing piano works by Erik Satie and Scott Joplin at Riverviews Artspace from 6 to 8 p.m. for First Friday.
Joplin is best known for his ragtime music used in the ’70s movie “The Sting,” but he wrote more than 35 ragtime pieces during his life. Peyton will be playing such classics as “The Bethena Waltz,” “The Gladiolus Rag” and “Heliotrope Bouquet.”
Satie was an Impressionist French composer and part of the Paris art scene. His music shows up in movies regularly. Peyton will play the Gnossiennes as well as “Je Te Veux” and “Next to Last Thoughts.”
