| [fowlvill.ged] Hezekiah married Elizabeth Penn a few years before leaving North Carolina and at least three children were born there. A search of the court house records of both Person and Caswell Countys failed to reveal a marriage record for Hexekiah and Elizabeth. Elizabeth was the daughter of John Penn. Thomas L. House did extensive research on the Penn families of North Carolina, trying to connect Elizabeth with John Penn, signer of the Declaration of Independence from North Carolina. He was unable to establish an exact relationship, but feels they were closely related, since there was only one John Penn listed on the First Census of North Carolina in 1790.
1830 Census for Person County, North Carolina: Hesekiah Villines 2 males under 5 (Addison born 23 Nov. 1827 and William born about 1828) 1 male 20-30 (Indicates that Hezekiah was born in 1800 of later.) 1 female under 5 (Nancy born 1 Mar. 1829) 1 female 20-30 (Elizabeth born about 1800 see 1850 census) total of 7 slaves (1 female 10-24 may be Piety) 1840 Census for Carroll County, Arkansas: Hezikiah Villines 2 males under 5 (Francis born 1835 and Robert born 21 apr 1837) 2 males 5 to 10 (Jefferson born 1832 and Joel born 1834) 2 males 10 to 15 (Addison and William) 1 male 30 to 40 (Hezekiah) 1 female 10 to 15 (Nancy) 1 female 30 to 40 (Elizabeth) 1850 Census, Van Buren Twp., Newton Co., AR House Last Name First Name Age Sex Occupation State of Birth 233-233 VERLINES, Elizabeth 57 F North Carolina Nancy 20 F North Carolina Jasper 18 M Tennessee Joel K. 16 M Missouri Robert 12 M Missouri Samuel 11 M Missouri Hezekiah died about 1844. 1860 Census, Van Buren Twp., Newton Co., AR House Last Name First Name Age Sex Occupation State of Birth No. 230 VILLINES, Elizabeth 57 F Virginia Francis 20 M Arkansas Joel 25 M Arkansas Ephram 2 M Arkansas Samuel 3/12 M Arkansas
Joel's wife died shortly before this cenuss.
